Energy Consumption Characteristics for Design Parameters of Permanent Magnet-Based Al Billet Heater

This study analyzed design factors to maximize energy efficiency, via numerical analysis, through an examination of the characteristics a heating system that uses permanent magnets and is employed for preheating in aluminum cladding extrusion process. The parameters billet heater using are magnetic flux direction, number magnets, clearance, eccentricity. density, current power loss, temperature, consumption were examined results parameter variations. Numerical analysis base model was conducted, it experimentally verified reached 450 °C about 260 s, temperature error at time 2%. show optimal factor conditions vary significantly depending on force direction magnet, is, circumferential (tangential) centrifugal (normal) directions. Furthermore, eccentricity has effect efficiency general, narrower clearance between magnet billet, higher achieved. That confirmed loss increased by 1.79% four tangential model, 10.51% 12 when 2 mm applied 2.5 mm. In addition, heats billets with diameter 60 length 70 proposed, importance revealed. this study, found most effective pole tangential.
